Hide the Credit Cards: Amazing Online Sales

Wowee zowee, there are some great sales online this week.  There’s the 30% off sale at MOO that I already told you about (today’s the last day!).  Tattly, the designy temporary tattoo company, is celebrating its first birthday with 50% off everything in store (use promo code “1YEAROLD”).  I would totally order the birthday party set for a kid’s birthday.

And finally, Chapters Indigo is having a huge online sale (with deals up to 75% off) on paper products, toys, and books.  Seriously, stock up now for fall birthdays.  Or treat yourself to something gorgeous like this half-price botanical stationery set (pictured above) by one of my faves, Rifle Paper Co.  Or these pretty note cards by Kate Spade.

Hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Father’s Day Is Coming!

Every year, my sister and I seem to scramble to get something together for our Dad for Father’s Day.  He is IMPOSSIBLE to shop for.  We think we have things covered for this year, but if you’re like us and still searching, maybe these Father’s Day gift guides will help:

A Cup of Jo blogger Joanna asked her husband Alex to do a gift guide for her blog.  It’s great!

The fabulous ladies at Admiral Road Design made a Pinterest board with Father’s Day gift ideas.

And the parenting website Babble takes the cake with 10 different Father’s Day gift guides, including guides for a Techie Dad, a New Dad, a Sports Dad, and the all-important “budget” category.

Happy hunting!

Add To The Reading List: Michael Ian Black’s Book

Next up on my Kobo Touch reading list (after I finish the third book in the Hunger Games) is Michael Ian Black’s new book, You’re Not Doing It Right: Tales of Marriage, Sex, Death, and Other Humiliations.

Comedy fans will know Michael Ian Black from Stella (his comedy troupe with David Wain and Michael Showalter) and one of my favourite movies of all time, Wet Hot American Summer (which is rumoured to be have a sequel in the works).  Two random facts about Michael Ian Black – his real name is Michael Schwartz (German for black, so that makes sense), and he also writes children’s books.

I Need a New iPhone Case

I have a lovely Kate Spade rubber case on my iPhone, but since I take it in and out of my back pocket a bajillion times a day, it is getting really loose.  Time for a new case – and probably something a bit more durable.  I’m thinking it’s time for a hard case.

A friend of mine had a custom iPhone case made through GelaSkins, using a photo of her son.  It’s so adorable.

I also really like the Society6 ones that were featured on Cup of Jo, and the NapPage ones that were featured on SwissMiss.

Decisions, decisions. If you have a smart phone, what case do you have?

Toms Makes Ballet Flats. Want.

If this yucky winter/spring weather ever changes, I can’t wait to put away my heavy boots and bust out my classic Toms (remember the ones I bought in Brooklyn in September?).  I was perusing the Toms website to pick out another pair (yep, I love them so much, I’ve decided I need more), and I noticed that Toms is now making ballet flats.  WANT.

I’d go for this pair in light pink linen.  They’d look so pretty with jeans.  And like all Toms shoes, when you purchase a pair, a pair is given to a child in need.

Thigh Society Undergarments

I was at a women’s small business event on Tuesday night, where I met Marnie Consky, owner and designer of Thigh Society.  This gal has the BEST idea – sick of getting “chub rub” (that horrible expression for the chafing that happens on your thighs when you wear skirts and dresses in the summertime), she came up with an undergarment that is not tight and hot like shapewear or bike shorts.  They’re “chic, sleek, lightweight shorts to wear under your skirts, dresses and pants for all-day comfort.”

That’s a picture of Marnie above, from an article about her and her business that ran in the Toronto Star last May.

You can find Thigh Society in a few specialty shops, or just order online.  I am definitely getting a pair (or two) ASAP!

Pretty Paperweights

You may remember me writing about Dana Tanamachi about a year ago – I love her chalk lettering. In the last year, she’s done a lot of cool stuff, including the lettering for the cover of this month’s Oprah magazine. She now has a line of paperweights for West Elm. I think paperweights are kind of useless – but they’re sooooooo pretty.  I want one.
