Mommy Humour

Being a new parent is delightful and amazing, but also mega stressful.   One of my favourite ways to relieve stress is to laugh, so lately I’ve been indulging in some Mommy Humour.  I’ve been enjoying the TV show Up All Night, I just finished reading the hilarious book Sippy Cups Are Not for Chardonnay, and I adore comedians Samantha Bee and Allana Harkins’ mommy blog, Eating Over The Sink.  Sometimes a good laugh is all you need to get through the tough times.

Modern Family starts back tonight!

Ian and I (and most of our friends) love Modern Family, the sitcom on ABC.  It just cleaned up at the Emmy Awards on Sunday night, and the Season 3 Premiere is on tonight at 9pm.  It’s a special 1-hour episode.

Also on tonight – Up All Night.  Did you watch the pilot last week?  What did you think?  What are some of your fave TV shows?

Go The F To Sleep

Oh wow, this is hilarious.  I was reading one of my favourite baby websites, Babble, and saw this post about a new children’s book, Go The F To Sleep.  Don’t worry, the book comes with a disclaimer:

Go the F To Sleep is a bedtime book for parents who live in the real world, where a few snoozing kitties and cutesy rhymes don’t always send a toddler sailing off to dreamland. Honest, profane, and affectionate, Adam Mansbach’s verses and Ricardo Cortés’ illustrations perfectly capture the familiar—and unspoken—tribulations of putting your little angel down for the night, and open up a conversation about parenting in the process. Beautiful, subversive, and pants-wettingly funny, Go the Fuck to Sleep is a perfect gift for parents new, old, or expectant.  You probably should not read it to actual children, and if you do, he cannot be held legally responsible.

Sounds like a delightful read to me!

Funny on Friday: Regretsy

I’m sure you’re familiar with Etsy – the online marketplace where you can buy all kinds of wonderful handmade products.  But have you ever checked out Regretsy?

Billed as “where DIY meets WTF”, Regretsy features all kinds of products that probably started out with the best intentions, but something went terribly wrong.  My favourites include the Hitler/Tinkerbell painting and the Cabbage Patch ear muffs (pictured above).

If you need a good laugh, check out the masterpieces on Regretsy.

PS – can’t get enough?  There’s a book.
