Creative People’s Workspaces

WillSelfWorkspace

I can’t recall where I read this, but I vaguely remember once coming across an article (or a chapter in a book) that said you shouldn’t clean up your workspace at the end of the day, as it can hinder creativity.

I was reminded of that while looking at this roundup of the workspaces of 40 creative people.  Some are total messes, and some are OCD-style neat.  Most are somewhere in between.  Interesting.

[ps – check out all the post-it notes in Will Self’s workspace!  That’s a LOT.]

A Great Mother’s Day Idea

I’m always jealous of the different “… of the month” clubs there are in the States.  You can get wine, beer, coffee, makeup, etc delivered to you each month.  There aren’t many clubs like those in Canada, but Toronto-based Steeped and Infused tea company is changing that!

Steeped and Infused has just launched a “Tea of the Month” club, with 3 different sizes (and price points).  Each month you’ll get two types of loose leaf teas mailed to you, in either a sample size (15 grams), an “enjoyment size” (25 grams) or the “indulgence size” (75 grams).  You can sign up for a 6-month of 12-month package. What a great gift idea for Mother’s Day (coming up Sunday May 12).

Going to Stay at the Rainbow Hotel!

I wrote about the Saguaro Palm Springs about a year ago, and now we’re going to stay there.  Squee!  I’m attending the An Event Apart conference in San Diego in May, so Ian’s tagging along and we’re turning my business trip into a little getaway.  After a few days in San Diego, we’ll drive into the desert to Palm Springs for some serious R&R – I’m talking a few days of chilling poolside with great beers and Mexican food.

With the nasty weather in Toronto today, I’m so glad I have this to look forward to.  Can. not. wait.

Super Great Laptop Stand

laptopstand

I was teaching a workshop for Camp Tech this past weekend, and one of the students had a really cool laptop stand.  I asked her all about it, and she showed me how it worked.  It was the “amazing XT-stand”.  It fits laptops from 12-19 inches, and folds up nicely for travel.  A great way to get your laptop on a more ergonomic angle for typing and viewing the screen, and it also allows air to circulate so the laptop doesn’t get so hot.

Now I just need to find a place that sells them in Toronto…
