Funny on Friday: Zach Galifianakis

These recent swimsuit photos of Zach Galifianakis in Vanity Fair reminded me of how much I love him.  From The Hangover to Bored to Death, I find just about everything he does super hilarious.  Have you seen his “Between Two Ferns” videos on Funny or Die?  If not, I recommend this one with Jon Hamm (someone else I adore):

Funny on Friday: Christopher Walken

Back in March, when we were in NYC, we saw Christopher Walken on Broadway in A Behanding In Spokane.  Ian couldn’t stop laughing at the way he talks (seriously, is that an accent?) throughout the whole play.

Here’s Christopher Walken and that amazing voice, reading the lyrics Lady Gaga’s Poker Face.  Enjoy.

Social Media Strategy?

I know it’s not Friday (when I usually post funny things), but I had to post this anyway.  This is the funniest website I’ve seen in a long time: What The Fuck Is My Social Media Strategy?

I’m strongly suspicious of people who work in marketing or PR and are trying to “harness the power of social media” or “strengthen the relationship between consumer and the brand”.  And people who call themselves social media gurus?  Yeah, I’m highly suspicious of them too.  Especially if they can’t do anything else, like plan a traditional marketing campaign or design something.  (unless you’re Scott Stratten of UnMarketing – the best social media expert/non-expert out there.  Follow his tweets and read his blog.  It’s good for you.)

Yep, I’m a web designer.  So I’m online all day long, and I know a thing or two about the interwebs.  But seriously, don’t ask me about how to use Twitter or Facebook for your business, because I honestly believe you shouldn’t.

Next time someone asks me for social media advice, I’m gonna spew out one of the answers from this website.

Funny on Friday: The Oatmeal

If you haven’t seen a comic by The Oatmeal yet, you need to check these out.  My favourite is “How A Web Design Goes Straight to Hell”.  There are some other good ones there too, like “What Your Email Address Says About Your Computer Skills” and “What It’s Like to Own an Apple Product“.

Or maybe you would prefer the quizzes on The Oatmeal, including the popular “How Many Justin Biebers Could You Take in a Fight?“.  For the record, I could take 20.

Funny on Friday: Grandma’s Google Call

Today’s Funny on Friday is thanks to Ian, who showed me the clip below.  Apparently it was making its way around the nerd websites, but I missed it.

This is an audio recording of somebody’s Grandma calling some sort of tech support (not Google) asking how to remove the playable Pacman game that Google put up on its homepage on May 22 (Pacman’s 30th birthday).  Apparently Pacman was making some noise, driving Grandma crazy.  Listen to the clip, and be awed by the tech support guy’s amazing patience.  And if you want to play Google Pacman, it’s still online here.
