Christmas Music That Doesn’t (Necessarily) Suck

songza

Oddball fact about Avery… I love Christmas music (I love just about everything about Christmas).  But I’m kind of particular about which Holiday music I do and don’t like.  I appreciate the appeal of Elvis’s Christmas Album, but I personally can’t stand it.  I’m much more of a Charlie Brown Christmas kind of gal.

Anyway, if you’re particular about your holiday tunes like I am, check out the Holiday playlists on Songza. I like Merry Indie Christmas, Santa’s Got Style: Hip Christmas Hits and Kelly Clarkson’s Warm ‘n’ Cozy Christmas  (yes, I love Kelly. Don’t hate.)

Enjoy!

Love in NY

harry-met-sally

Confession time. I love the movie When Harry Met Sally.  And one of my favourite parts of the movie is the little interstitial bits, where real-life couples tell their stories of falling in love.

One of my blog readers, James, emailed me last week with a link to Tales of Woo, a video series of real New Yorkers telling their stories of meeting and falling in love. It’s like a real version of When Harry Met Sally. Wonderful.

Thanks for sharing James – I really enjoy Tales of Woo.

You Need to Watch This.

Designers, creatives, heck, anyone who wants to do any kind of work with integrity:  You need to watch this.

And then maybe afterwards, you’ll write something on your chalkboard wall to remind you, like I did (pictured above).

PS – I know I’m bordering on “inspirational poster” territory here, which is disgusting. but I seriously buy into this one.

I have two complimentary tickets to the Fall Home Show in Toronto, happening at Exhibition Place October 3-6.  I thought I’d do a giveaway here on the blog for the tickets. If you’d like to win them, leave a comment below. I’ll choose a winner at random on Sunday night (September 29) and Xpresspost the tickets to the winner.

What Should I Do With This Wall in My Office?

I’ve been having more and more client meetings in my home office, so I decided to switch things up a bit to make it a space worth visiting.  I purged two bookcases-worth of books and magazines, pushed my desk against the wall, picked up a cheap and cheerful table and chairs at Ikea, and painted the walls a light blue/grey.  Add some fresh flowers from my local fav shop, Florabunda, and it almost looks done. Almost, except one wall.

The rest of the room is pretty full, and that one section of the wall looks so bare. I have a print of a painting by Edward Hopper that could go there, but even though I love the piece, it’s a little depressing for my office. I then thought of putting a few shelves there to display knick-knacks, but I don’t want to put something up just to fill the space. (Although, a shelf would be the perfect place to put that Tivoli radio I’ve been coveting for a while…)

What do you think?  Any crazy ideas?
