Pictures from Our Trip To Montreal

Our little holiday to Montreal last week was fantastic.  The weather was perfect (sunny and warm, but not too warm like Toronto was), and the apartment we rented was amazing.  It was huge, and the terrace and back deck (pictured above) were wonderful places to relax with a glass of wine in the evenings.

Even though Clara was on a bit of a nap strike, she was in a really good mood most of the time, so we did a lot of walking and exploring.  We usually went out for the morning and lunch, then came back to the apartment for afternoon naps (or lack thereof), and then went to the splash pad in the park right next to the apartment.  That was probably Clara’s favourite part!

We went to the Biodome one morning, and Clara loved walking around, looking at the animals.  Another day we took the metro downtown, so Ian could go to the Bell Centre (home of his beloved Montreal Canadiens hockey team).  On our final day, we spent a few hours wondering around Old Montreal, which is so touristy, but gorgeous nonetheless.  It’s really different in summer – you can walk and enjoy the parks right next to the river (unlike in the winter, when it’s so cold and windy down there).

Our apartment rental was in the Mile End neighbourhood of the Plateau, and was next to some wonderful shops and restaurants.  I was particularly obsessed with fresh croissants from Boulangerie Guillaume, and did some damage shopping at V-de-V.  Ian was thrilled to pick up some of his favourite Quebec beers at the SAQ.

I think my favourite part of the vacation was just having a change of scenery, and doing something a little different.  Even though we didn’t go out at night, opting instead to hang around the apartment after putting Clara to bed, it was still nice to be in a different place.  When you’re in your own home in the evenings, you don’t always relax, since there are always things to do (catching up on work, laundry, paying bills, etc etc).  This little holiday proved that you don’t have to go far or blow the bank to get a change of pace.  Highly recommended!
