Forget California… Going to New York

Forget all that pining for California I was doing in the last few weeks – we’ve changed our plans and are now going to New York.  We’ve rented out the house in September, and have rented a place of our own in Brooklyn (near Fort Greene Park) for 3 weeks.  We did this all through Airbnb, the vacation home rental website that I just love.  And yesterday we booked our flights on Porter, through one of their (regular) 30% off sales.

I think Brooklyn is a perfect choice for us.  3 weeks is a nice long time, so we don’t have to feel rushed.  And with our own apartment, we can live like locals.  Our pace has slowed down dramatically since Clara was born, so we can take it easy, poking around the neighbourhood, which we’ve heard is really baby-friendly.  We’ll probably go into Manhattan a few times (gotta check out the Highline, the rooftop bar at Eataly, and a really cool exhibit at MoMA), but mostly, we’re looking forward to relaxing in Brooklyn (and eating NY-style pizza and drinking good beer).  I am sooooooooo excited.
